Lorenda James

It is with great sadness that our Account Manager, Lorenda James has retired from PWA at the end of August. After 25 years in the industry, Lorenda has made great strides and wonderful relationships with our clients. 

Don Whiting, who has been with PWA serving as an Assistantt Account Manager, has been promoted to Account Manager to fill the vacancy. 

Don joined the PWA team in October 2018, bringing along over 8 years of experience in employee benefits gained from a variety of third party benefits administrators, including WageWorks, OneSource Virtual, and Conduent. His experience has allowed him to learn about tax-advantaged FSAs, HRAs, HSAs and transit plans, COBRA, and defined benefit pension plans. He is currently a senior at Northern Arizona University, expecting to graduate in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Management. When he isn't working, Don enjoys walking the trails at the American River, watching Japanese animation and playing video games.

Canopy Health and Western Health Advantage Agreed to Not Renew their Provider Service effective January 1, 2020

Anthem Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) Rebate Check Notices

Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) dropped below 80 percent during the 2016-2018 period for Anthem Blue Cross of CA. Anthem clients with Small Group medical plans during the 2018 calendar year will get some money back. Rebate checks mail directly to employers by September 30. Anthem will send rebate notifications to employees of those impacted groups, as required by law.  Below are a few resources to help explain the MLR rebates.

Sutter’s Executive Health Services allow employees in critical and stressful positions to get thorough medical, physical and nutritional evaluations in a way that's private, efficient and convenient. The executive health services program is currently available through our Palo Alto Medical Foundation at its Palo Alto location but is available to employers located outside the Bay Area.
